NORDISK FILM TV WORLD MAKES RAFT OF GREEN SALES AND ACQUIRES FIRST CO2 NEUTRAL PRODUCTION

Copenhagen, 19 March – Top Scandinavian distributor, Nordisk Film TV World, today announces a raft of new sales of its remarkable climate change awareness interstitial catalogue 100 Places to Remember Before They Disappear. It also unveils a newly acquired CO2 neutral production, available to buyers at MIPTV, the Rose D’Or nominated Operation Earth.

Following its launch at MIPCOM 2008, Nordisk TV Film World has closed deals for 100 Places to Remember Before They Disappear in six territories internationally; the catalogue has sold to a variety of major broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Greece, Thailand and the Middle East. The collection of 100 beautifully produced interstitials has also caught the eye of a more than 30 further broadcasters and more sales, including a major German channel, are expected to finalise imminently.

Whilst the original idea of the catalogue was to air one spot per day for 100 days in the lead up to the historical UN climate conference in Copenhagen (in November 2009), Broadcasters have been offered the maximum flexibility as to how the clips are used. Some have been exploring the versatility of the catalogue by having a regional celebrity execute the voiceover, some use them to top and tail weather forecasts, and others as internet and mobile content.

Now Nordisk Film TV World is further expanding its green programming catalogue with the ground-breaking, Operation Earth, the first ever completely CO2 neutral production. This competitive reality show features three celebrity teams, each given a green mission to improve a location on a different continent.
With the help of respected advertising agencies and the mentoring of an experienced CEO the teams have to raise and spend money wisely to help their target and complete their mission.

Jan Salling, Head of International Sales & Business Development at Nordisk Film TV World, who brokered the deals, said “We are very pleased to announce this first batch of sales of 100 Places to Remember Before They Disappear. We are extremely proud to be associated with this project and find it encouraging that many of our business partners share our sentiment. Our alignment with 100 Places and the new acquisition of Operation Earth compliment our company vision to become the world’s first CO2 neutral distributor by the end of 2009.”

Stepping up its efforts to achieve its company vision, Nordisk Film TV World has also joined the Reed Midem and Spice initiative and service “Exhibit Footprint” – which has calculates the total CO2 emissions made by companies during MIP. Nordisk has reduced its CO2 emissions by a stunning 65% from MIPTV 08 – MIPCOM 08 - from 22,82 tons CO2 to 8,33 tons CO2.
